Polo Festival on Shandur Pass

Every year in summer a polo tournament is organised between the polo players of the Gilgit and Chitral regions on the high plateau of the Shandur Pass (3734m). This polo field is the highest polo ground in the world. Polo, which originated in Gilgit, is played here roughly in its original form. The week-long festival offers a unique opportunity to experience the vitality and culture of these tough mountain dwellers. Living in a tented city, watching folk dances and singing and many other items of interest, you will have an experience to remember for a lifetime.

Itinerary:

Day 1	Arrive at Islamabad (hotel)
Day 2	Fly to Gilgit (subject to weather) or drive to Naran (hotel)
Day 3	Sightseeing around Gilgit or continue drive to Gilgit (hotel)
Day 4	Jeep ride Phandar lake (camp)
Day 5	Jeep ride to Shandur Pass (camp)
Day 6-9	Participate in the thrilling polo festival, singing, and dancing (camp)
Day 10-11	Drive on to Chitral (hotel)
Day 12	Drive to Swat (hotel)
Day 13	Drive to Rawalpindi via Taxila (hotel)
Day 14	Fly home (end of services)
