Pilgrimage To High Heavens – K-2 Circle Trek

This trek requires group members to be in good physical condition because weather conditions can sometimes be difficult. The trek should start from Askole to be able to reach Concordia and see Baltoro Peaks. With good weather, the trek is an easy one. The opening of Gonogoro-La makes it possible to return via Hushey valley. If the weather is kind, the view from this pass is fine and one can see an excellent panorama of K-2 (8611m, the second highest peak in the world), Broad Peak (8048m), Gashabrum 1-6, Chogolosa (7665m) and Upper Baltoro.

Itinerary:

Day 1 Arrive at Islamabad, transfer to hotel
Day 2 Fly to Skardu (subject to weather), briefing at concern office or drive to Chilas (hotel)
Day 3 Day free at Skardu or drive to Skardu from Chilas, briefing at concern office (hotel)
Day 4 Drive 6-7 hrs by jeep to Askole (3000m) (camp)
Day 5 Travel across Biafo glacier and reach Jakolo after crossing Dumordu River (5-6 hrs, camp)
Day 6 Trek to Paiyu (6-7 hrs, camp)
Day 7 Day free at Paiyu (3600m) (camp)
Day 8 Climb up Baltoro Glacier and then 1.3 hrs walk to campsite at Ghubertze (5-7 hrs, camp)
Day 9 A 4-5 hrs walk with fine views of Paiyu Peak, Uli Biaho and Trango Towers. Camp at Urdukas (4200m, camp)
Day 10 A 3-4 hrs walk to campsite at Gore (4500m) (camp)
Day 11 Walking through high mountains (Broad Peak and others), reach the camp at Concordia (4700m, camp)
Day 12-13 Two Days free for exploration and side trips (camp)
Day 14 Trek for 5-6 hrs to Ali camp (4800m) (camp)
Day 15 Early morning at about 3 o’clock start trek 4-5 hrs going up to Gondogoro Pass (5550m) and 3-4 hrs downwards to the camp on the other side (camp)
Day 16 Free Day for optional climb of Gondogoro Peak (camp)
Day 17 3-4 hrs easy descent to campsite at Dalzampa (4150m) (camp)
Day 18 A further 3-4 hrs walk to Siacho (camp)
Day 19 A 4-5 hrs walk to Hushey, along the east bank of the river (camp)
Day 20 Drive by jeep to Skardu, debriefing at concern office (6-7 hrs, hotel)
Day 21 Fly to Islamabad (subject to weather) or drive to Chilas (hotel)
Day 22 Full day sightseeing twin city, Raja Bazaar, Faisal Mosque or continue drive from Chilas to Islamabad (hotel)
